How to Use Your SVG Files in Cricut Design Space

Now that you’ve created your SVG file using Sure Cuts A Lot, it’s time to bring that design to life with your Cricut machine! Cricut Design Space makes it simple to import and cut your SVG projects.

🖥 Step 1: Open Cricut Design Space

If you haven’t installed it yet, go to cricut.com and download Cricut Design Space for your computer or mobile device.

Once installed, open the app and log in to your Cricut account.

📁 Step 2: Upload Your SVG File

On the Canvas screen, click the Upload button in the left-hand menu.

Choose Upload Image.

Click Browse, then find and select your SVG file created in SCAL.

After uploading, name and tag the file, then click Save.

Your SVG is now stored in your Cricut library!

🛠 Step 3: Insert & Adjust Your Design

Select the uploaded SVG under Recently Uploaded Images.

Click Insert Images to add it to your canvas.

From here, you can:

Resize the design using the corner handles.

Change colors by selecting each layer and choosing a color from the toolbar.

Use Attach, Weld, or Group depending on how you want it to cut.

✂️ Step 4: Prepare to Cut

  1. When ready, click Make It in the top right.

  2. On the preview screen, confirm your design is laid out as expected.

  3. Choose your material settings (e.g., vinyl, cardstock, etc.).

  4. Load the mat into your Cricut machine and press Go.

That’s it! Your SVG file will be cut exactly as designed.

💡 Pro Tips:

Always Attach grouped elements if you want them cut in place.

Use Mirror On for heat transfer vinyl projects.

Save your project inside Design Space to easily re-cut in the future.
